भौतिक सुखाच्या हव्यासाची नादानी
खरंच आहे का तु समाधानी
डोंगर टेकड्या केल्या सपाट
हिरव्या जंगलांची केली कपात
नद्या ओढ्यांची अडवलीस वाट
ओरबडून निसर्ग कुठे निघालास सुसाट
पेन्शनरांचे पुण्यनगर झाले आयटी महानगर
शिक्षणाचे माहेरघर झाले वाहनांचे उद्योगनगर
पेठेतल्या वाड्यांचे झाले उंच भव्य कॉंक्रिटीकरण
ऐतिहासिक सांस्कृतिक शहराचे झाले बाज़ारीकरण
हाच का तुझा विकास बुध्दिमानी
हीच का तुझी प्रगति अभिमानी
हे संकट नाही केवल आस्मानी
मानवा ही तर तुझीच मनमानी.
सायकलींच्या शहरात धुरांचा लोळ
सुंदर पुण्यात फ्लास्टिक, कचऱ्याचा घोळ
शांत पुण्यात उठली वावटळ
हिरवेगार पुण्यात झाला हवामानबदल
जाग मानवा आता तरी जाग
शेवटची घटका समीप आली जाग
एक्सप्रेस वे वर कोंडतोय श्वास
विद्वान पूणेकरा थांबव ना रे हा ऱ्हास
हे संकट नाही केवल आस्मानी

This poem is dedicated to the last minute call given by nature to the anthropocentric insane behaviour of human beings, which will only lead to disastrous destruction as witnessed in Pune on the night of 25.09.2019.

To live in harmony with nature, stand up
The Pune disaster is not just a natural calamity,
It is an act of anthropocentric behaviour of insanity,
Of humans unlimited wants, desires, greed leading to vanity,
Archeologists have a dig, are there any remains of happiness and humanity.
Drilling the divine mountains and hill,
Cutting the jungles and trees at will,
Obstructing the flow, bringing rivers and streams to standstill,
“ Development by destroying nature “, the Parliament has passed the bill.
The pensioners paradise has turned into an IT hub,
The Oxford of the East is now an automobile industries club,
The endless growth of the metrocity far and beyond the subs,
The once historical- cultural city is now a market full of malls and pubs.
Is this development just, fair and of utility,
Is this real progress or act of cruelty,
The Pune disaster is not just a natural calamity,
It is an act of anthropocentric behaviour of insanity.
The city of cycles is engulfed in polluting smoke,
The plastics and garbage in the city provoke,
The quietness, calmness of the city, now a fake,
The once cool climate is here to change, wake.
Wake up human wake up,
It’s the last minute call, wake up,
The expressway to hell is paved up,
Rational Puneite you need to stand up.
To live in harmony with nature, stand up.
